The Advanced Control and Network Technology (AC&NT) Research Unit specialises in advanced control theory, technology and applications. The unit is engaged in fundamental theoretical research as well as industrial applications, covering the themes of networked control systems, multi-agent control systems, Internet of Things, fuel cell modelling and control, nonlinear identification and control, and multiobjective optimal control.
The research unit has been in existence for over 20 years and has collaborated with both industry and research groups in the UK, Europe and the world. Since RAE 2008 the members of the unit have published more than 80 journal papers and 70 conference papers, and 2 books.
Since 2004, the unit has received research funding from European Framework 6, EUSF, EPSRC, HEFCW, DTI, TSB, ESRC, WAG, Energy Saving Trust, Royal Society, Leverhulme Trust and industrial companies. One member of the unit is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Automation and Computing, the IEEE Fellow, and the 2014 and 2015 Thomson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher. We were the organiser of 2007 IEEE International Conference on Networking, Sensing and Control and 2012 UKACC International Conference on Control.
